Government agents on Wednesday arrested a foreign national for trying to smuggle a shipment of illegal drugs worth P20.7 million at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Thai national Sirirut Taweesup, 40, was intercepted by operatives of the Bureau of Customs, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.
The suspect arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 on Thai Airways flight TG 620 from Bangkok.
The authorities recovered 13 vacuum-sealed plastics containing 14,825 grams of hybrid cannabis.
Customs Commissioner Bien Rubio reiterates the agency’s commitment to preventing the entry of illicit goods into the country and vowed to continue intensifying border control and enhancing coordination with partner agencies to combat illegal drug smuggling.
