MANILA, Philippines — Distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will receive larger financial aid from the Department of Migrant Workers.
The DMW said on Wednesday night that it has issued an order increasing the amount of financial assistance to OFWs in distressing situations.
According to DMW, OFWs severely affected by economic downturn, retrenchment or who are victims of abuse, illegal recruitment and natural calamities shall receive P50,000.
The agency will provide P75,000 cash aid to OFWs with serious illness or injury, mental health conditions and those displaced by war and political unrest.
“The next of kin of OFWs who passed away in the host country due to natural accidents or natural causes will be granted P100,000,” the DMW said.
