PHILIPPINE Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Melquiades Robles said on Thursday that he would push for the construction of a new forensics laboratory for the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO).
“Yes, the PCSO will be putting up a forensics laboratory for PAO that will be built at your new and separate building in Quezon City,” Robles said during PAO’s 8th Mandatory Continuing Legal Education-Accredited National Convention for public defenders at the Philippine International Convention Center.
“We have this project with PAO chief [Percida] Acosta so that you could independently do your job and help in the dispensation of justice. It’s not yet approved [by the PCSO Board], but that’s where it’s going, and I support that project very much,” he added.

Robles, who received the “Outstanding Public Servant” award during the event, thanked Acosta and the PAO for recognizing his effort to help less fortunate Filipinos.
Robles started his government career as a board member of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp., a state-owned television network, before serving as Light Railway Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator from 2019 to 2022.
He was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as PCSO general manager in 2023.
Under his watch, Robles introduced an online lottery platform, revamped jackpot systems and strengthened campaigns against illegal gambling.
“To brag a little, I am the only LRTA administrator who made it profitable and even up to now, that record remains unsurpassed. But with some strokes of luck and a lot of hard work, I made such a record,” Robles said.
