MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government is considering a proposal to implement carless Sundays along Tomas Morato Avenue.
City hall will hold a hybrid public consultation next week on the proposal filed by 4th District Councilor Irene Belmonte.
The proposed ordinance, if approved, would close Tomas Morato to vehicular traffic every Sunday.
The measure aims to further promote the area, which is known for food and other commercial establishments, as a tourist hub.
The public consultation will be held at the South Triangle covered court on Aug. 21 and at the old Barangay Obrero hall on Aug. 24, both at 4 p.m.
“People are welcome to give their comments and recommendations,” the city government said in an advisory.
