At least 45 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Lebanon will be repatriated this week due to growing tensions between the country and Israeli forces, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

The DMW said there are currently 11,300 Filipinos in Lebanon, most of whom are living in or near the capital of Beirut.

All Filipinos who are repatriated from Lebanon will receive P100,000 from the DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), according to DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac.

Meanwhile, the DMW said the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will offer post-repatriation assistance to OFWs coming home from conflict areas like Lebanon.

“We will help in the facilitation of their jobs. There are job opportunities available from DOLE. There are also opportunities for them in training from TESDA. They will be given vouchers so they can choose a training course and institution that they can attend,” Cacdac said.
