(UPDATES) THE four firemen involved in the use of their fire truck to refill a private swimming pool in Taytay, Rizal, have been relieved, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said Monday.

BFP spokesman Supt. Annalee Atienza said the four were transferred to other fire stations in Rizal while being investigated by the BFP Region 4A or Calabarzon.

Atienza withheld the names of the four firefighters but said that one was the fire chief with a Senior Fire Inspector rank, while the others were Fire Officers 3 and 1.

“The fire chief and three other BFP personnel [in Taytay] were relieved. That’s the initial action taken while the investigation is ongoing,” Atienza said.

She also confirmed the photo of the fire truck circulating online, saying they were investigating the matter.

“Yes, it did happen (the use of the fire truck to refill a private pool). We saw it on the [Facebook] post. What we are trying to find out is who gave the authority and who made the request,” she said.

On August 18, Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos ordered an investigation after seeing on social media the pictures of a fire truck being used to refill the private swimming pool in Tanay town’s Makarlika Village.

Abalos ordered BFP chief Louie Puracan to conduct the probe to determine the veracity of the incident and that the BFP personnel involved in the “unscrupulous act” should be identified and relieved, if warranted, from their posts pending the investigation.
