MANILA, Philippines — A 61-year-old woman bound for Manila was offloaded at the San Jose Airport (SJA) in Occidental Mindoro yesterday morning after she allegedly made a bomb joke.
The Philippine National Police (PNP)-Aviation Security Group based in the SJA reported to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines that the passenger was asked to have her luggage scanned through the x-ray machine.
While a female security officer was helping her lift the luggage for x-ray scanning, the passenger reportedly said in Filipino: “Sis, it might explode.”
This prompted the officer to seek help from her superiors.
The passenger was taken to the San Jose Airport police station for investigation.
She said she did not mean to cause alarm.
The matter was turned over to the PNP for further investigation.
