The local government unit of Quezon City, along with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), commemorated the 146th birth anniversary of the late former president Manuel L. Quezon.

On Aug. 19, a ceremony was held at the Quezon Memorial Shrine in Quezon City, led by CHR Chairperson Atty. Richard P. Palpal-Latoc, NHCP Deputy Executive Director Alvin R. Alcid, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Carlo G. Sotto, Quezon City First District Representative Arjo Atayde, G. Emilio Quezon Avanceña, and representatives of the KWF, the NCCA, and other civic groups.

The late former president was known for his efforts in establishing the country’s sovereignty, implementing laws regarding social justice, and designating Tagalog as the basis of the country’s national language.
