PHILIPPINE Ambassador to Beijing Jaime FlorCruz urged Chinese businessmen to invest in the Philippine renewable energy sector.

FlorCruz made the appeal during the recently held Association of Southeast Asian Nations-China Week, noting the Philippines has improved its regulatory environment to attract more foreign businesses.

He said the Philippines’ National Renewable Energy Program has established a target of at least 35 percent renewable energy share in the power generation mix by 2030, hoping to increase it to 50 percent by 2040.

FlorCruz highlighted tourism destinations in the Philippines, noting the country was recognized as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination and the World’s Leading Dive Destination from 2019 to 2023 by the World Travel Awards, and Best Destination for Shore Diving during the 2022 Scuba Diving Readers’ Choice Awards.

This year’s Asean-China Week was held in Shanxi province with the theme “Asean-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership: Achieving Prosperity through Innovation.”
