Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesperson Winston Casio on Saturday said dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo might be moving next to the Golden Triangle, a notorious region in Southeast Asia known for transnational crime.

According to Casio, Guo will evade China due to Beijing’s strict position on gambling-related crimes.

“She would definitely not be heading to any of those territories,” Casio said during a Quezon City news forum.

The Golden Triangle, which spans parts of Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand, is infamous for its porous borders and weak law enforcement. The region has long been a hub for organized crime, including drug and human trafficking.

Casio said the former mayor has ties to Cambodia through the Guo family, which has established business and gambling interests in the country.

Cambodia’s looser regulations on gambling could provide a safer haven for her compared to China or other nations with extradition treaties.

“If I am a criminal from the Philippines, I will not go to countries where extradition between that territory and the Philippines exists and I will not go to territories that are party to the international… to the United Nations… United Nations Convention on Transnational Crime – I will never go to those places because it’s easy for me to come back,” Casio said.
