MALACAÑANG has proposed a P6.38-billion allocation for the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) in the National Expenditure Program for 2025.
The P6,380,413,000 will fund the building of access roads that lead to designated tourist destinations under TRIP.
The projects will be identified jointly by the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Tourism in support of the National Tourism Development Plan 2023-2028.
“Congress is determined to provide all regions across the country ample support to upgrade their access roads and bridges leading to their tourism sites,” Quezon City 4th District Rep. Marvin Rillo said in a statement on Sunday.
Rillo is the vice chairman of the House Committee on Tourism and a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, which is conducting deliberations on the 2025 General Appropriations bill.
The allocation for TRIP under the bill was P15.2 billion.
