Daraga Mayor Carlywyn Baldo was arrested in Camalig, Albay early Tuesday morning over the killing of Ako Bicol Representative Rodel Batocabe and his police aide in 2018, according to the police.
In a police report, the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said authorities served the arrest warrant to Baldo around 12:45 a.m.
Baldo was assisted by his legal counsel and was brought to CIDG Albay office for documentation and proper disposition, according to the CIDG.
Recently, the Regional Trial Court – National Capital Region issued a new arrest warrant against Baldo, who was among the five accused, for two counts of murder with no bail recommended.
In December 2018, Batocabe and his police aide, Master Sergeant Orlando Diaz, were shot while attending a gift-giving event in Daraga.
