The Eraserheads will take the stage at the opening ceremony of the 87th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on Sept. 7 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro will reunite for a performance as the University of the Philippines (UP), the host school, kicks off the new season with an opening day celebration featuring the iconic rock band and other artists.

The Eraserheads recently received the Gawad Oblation Award, the highest honor UP bestows on its alumni for significant contributions and extraordinary service. The band was recognized for having “indelibly shaped the scope and sound of our culture.”

Their performance at the UAAP opening ceremony will be a homecoming of sorts, providing an opportunity to connect with the broader UAAP community and sports fans.

“We’re excited to announce that the Eraserheads will be performing at the UAAP as we launch Season 87. This comes at the perfect time—they’ve reached the pinnacle of their career, disbanded, reunited, and come full circle. They are true music icons and national pride,” said UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development Director Bo Perasol.

The UAAP opening ceremony will also feature performances by other renowned artists, bringing the theme “Stronger, Better, Together” to life. The event is supported by Palawan Pay, Converge ICT Solutions, CDO Foodsphere, and Strong Group Athletics.

Separate tickets will be sold for the opening ceremony and the first basketball game between the UP Fighting Maroons and the Ateneo Blue Eagles, which will tip off later in the day. Tickets will be available through Ticketnet.
