P-pop powerhouses SB19 and BINI were named “Voices of Asia” at the Billboard K Power 100 event on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
During their acceptance speeches, the pop groups acknowledged each other’s contributions to the continuous rise of P-Pop on the global stage.
Speaking on behalf of his group, lead rapper Josh shared that the award was not just SB19’s win, but a victory for the entire P-Pop community.
“This award belongs not just to us, but to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and of course, to every Filipino who shares their creativity and passion across Asia and the world,” said SB19 member Josh.
He then mentioned “Nation’s Girl Group” BINI, who also won the same award.
“We would also like to give a shout-out to our fellow Filipino artists who are here right now, BINI. Hello to you guys. We are very proud of you. We have been making waves together,” he continued.
Meanwhile, SB19 leader Pablo gave credit to OPM icons who inspired them to create music.
“I would just like to add, to every Filipino artist, creative, and to the music legends before us: You inspire us so much to grow and excel without losing heart,” Pablo said.
“And as ‘Voices of Asia,’ we are so proud to stand alongside our fellow Asian artists, showcasing the diversity and richness of our cultures through our music. This award represents the P-Pop community’s mission, which is to bring Filipino artistry to the global stage, starting here in Asia,” he added.
On the other hand, BINI member Aiah expressed her gratitude to those who have continued to support their journey as musicians.
“On behalf of BINI, it’s an honor, and we are so grateful to receive this award. But you see, this award isn’t just for us. It’s also for those people who believe in us and have been a part of our journey,” Aiah stated.
The leader of the girl group, Jhoanna, also took time to thank SB19 for “inspiring” them.
“Being here tonight with so many talented artists inspires us to keep pushing boundaries and to share our music with the world. This award reminds us that anything is possible with hard work and dedication,” shared Jhoanna.
“To our fellow artists, we admire and respect each and every one of you. To our fellow P-Pop group SB19, thank you so much for inspiring us,” she added.
