Tension ensued after police brought a “blue box” inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City early Thursday morning as the search continues for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Some KOJC members protested against the move, saying that the “blue box” did not undergo the X-ray scanner before entering the compound, according to a report from Unang Balita.
GMA News Online has reached out to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 regarding the contents of the blue box, but it has yet to respond as of posting time.
Earlier, about 100 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) entered the compound as the hunt for Quiboloy entered its sixth day.
The PNP also brought a long-range acoustic device o LRAD, an apparatus that produces sound at high power for communicating at a distance. The apparatus is reportedly commonly used for maritime and perimeter security as well as a method for crowd control.
Meanwhile, the PNP has denied reports from the Quiboloy-owned media SMNI hat the PNP supposedly warned KOJC members that it will bomb their cathedral if they do not surrender their leader to authorities in two hours.
The PNP has been in the compound since August 24 to serve the warrant against Quiboloy who is facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
Quiboloy is also facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court.
Quiboloy went into hiding shortly after the Senate issued an arrest order against him for refusing to attend the chamber’s hearings.
He has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.
Quiboloy’s camp has repeatedly denied the allegations against him. –VAL, GMA Integrated News
