A MILITARY drill between the Philippines and Indonesian armies kicked off Wednesday at the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division (6ID) at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

The start of Philindo Strike IV-2024 was highlighted by simple rites with Col. Edgar Catu, 6ID chief of staff, welcoming the participating forces.

“This bilateral exercise is a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Indonesia.

I am confident that this exercise will be a valuable platform for learning, collaboration and mutual benefit,” Catu said.

The keynote speaker, Col. Jose Ambrosio Rustia, assistant division commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs, said the exercise “represents a significant step forward in strengthening the military cooperation between our two nations.”

“It is designed to enhance our joint operational readiness, improve strategic communication and build mutual trust.”

Leading the Indonesian contingent was Col. Yoki Malinton Kurniafari, commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade Badik Sakti, Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Darat.

“Indonesia is committed to strengthening our military ties and building stronger security frameworks with the Philippine counterpart. By fostering collaboration and exchanging strategies and experiences, we seek to enhance our strategic planning and joint capabilities.” Kurniafari said.

The exercise will focus on battlespace management, employment of owned assets and other capabilities; and interoperability and synchronization of assets.

Twenty Philippine Army and 16 Indonesian Army personnel are participating in the exercise which will end on September 2.
