Let’s admit it: just hearing the name of your current special someone’s ex is tough, let alone knowing that they have a box-office film worth more than P300M.

It’s hard to imagine, but that’s Gerald Anderson’s reality with his girlfriend Julia Barretto, whose film “Un/Happy For You” with her former beau Joshua Garcia is already up in the charts.

Why did I open with this, right? Well, after two chats with Gerald and posting his support for JoshLia, netizens commended his attitude towards the whole scenario. Gerald explained to us the situation with the wisdom, “Awkward talaga trabaho namin. Ganon talaga I’ve been in that situation before that’s why I tried to be as supportive as possible.”

“I don’t want to steal the spotlight. Pinaghirapan nila iyan, eh and they know how hard it is to make a movie that you want many people to watch,” he added.

It just goes to show how stable and mature he is in his relationship. Although, Gerald was so real when he said that he had not yet seen the film and he did support Julia in his own ways.

“Yeah, it is awkward talaga. I am not going to lie, ganon talaga but ganoon talaga trabaho namin,” he shared. “You just try to be as professional as possible. You know how much this means to a lot of people in the industry. So, sino ba naman ako diba? Good energy iyan eh. So, I’m just always here to support her.”

We heard that Julia is returning to ABS-CBN via a TV show and we asked Gerald if his upcoming project under JRB Creative Production is the one that she’s going to be appearing in.

Gerald teased, “Hindi ito iyon, but she has another project with Jake Cuenca. Ayan, ah sinabi ko na nag-uusap-usap kami. It’s something that I want her to do na napakaganda pero may mangyayari sa show na ito na hindi niyo aasahan!”

Exciting indeed! Speaking of the show, it’s called “Nobody” and it’s Gerald’s much anticipated acting comeback after two years. “Nobody” is going to be an action-drama series.

TV5 interview with Gerald at the ‘Nobody’ project announcement.

The intriguing series will center around one’s loyalty, integrity, and morality based on the teaser that features a montage of Gerald’s real-life advocacy and good deeds but also leaves an intriguing statement that “it is not a story about a hero… Gerald Anderson is a nobody.”

During our chat with Gerald, he said that the show won’t be afraid to be political. “Iyon ang challenge sa side namin. But we have to be real na ito ang pinagdadaanan ng mga Pilipino because of the bad decisions of people in power,” he said.

“Nangyayari talaga ito kaya ikwento naman natin. So, kung pulis yan, there is good pulis, but may masasama.”

Just two weeks ago, we also had another interview with Gerald and during that time, the timeline was not yet clear for his ABS-CBN primetime show. But he said though that the timeline became earlier and he is ready to take on the challenge.

“It’s the perfect comeback show because it’s very challenging. This is a journey ng isang tao na hindi mo alam kung ano ba talaga siya,” he said. “Is he a hero? Vigilante ba siya? Does he have integrity?”

The Kapamilya actor also revealed that he is set to undergo physical training for his character as a law enforcement officer. It is on top of what he professionally knows in rescue.

“May martial arts and firing training because law enforcement ako rito. So there’s special training. May konting knowledge ako from the coast guard and I’ll try to share it with the cast members,” he shared.

Besides ABS-CBN’s JRB Creative Production is producing the series, Benedict Mique has been tapped as the director, with Dindo Perez and Cenon Palomares as the creative manager and head writer, respectively.

The show is the follow-up to Gerald’s last series “A Family Affair,” which aired on primetime TV in 2022. You can also catch the series on TV5 soon.
