MANILA, Philippines – Three persons died in a landslide incident while three others drowned in Antipolo City Monday, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
In an interview, CDRRMO Chief Relly Bernardo said that two houses in Brgy. San Jose were buried in the landslide. Three died on the spot including two minors aged 12 and 15.
The third landslide victim was a 27-year-old pregnant woman, the neighbor of the children.
In Barangay San Luis, a 4 four-year-old child and a 44-year-old woman drowned.
Another drowning victim was reported in Sitio Banaba. One was reported missing.
“We had been trying to conduct forced evacuation but some just won’t listen. We are not blaming anybody, we do not want casualties, we hope they would follow the village officials immediately,” Bernardo said.
Bernardo said that search, rescue and retrieval operations are ongoing.
