The local government units of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte have prepared their evacuation centers as these provinces brace for the possible impact of Tropical Storm Enteng.

In Jasmin Gabriel-Galban’s Monday report on 24 Oras, the two regions are on red alert status as their residents prepare not only for the incoming rain but also for possible flooding.

Signal No. 2 has been hoisted over the two provinces even before Enteng reached landfall.

Residents were advised to proceed to evacuation centers since the expected heavy rains may trigger flash floods at the foot of mountainous areas.

A downpour also occurred in La Union that caused almost zero visibility in San Fernando City.

Some students were forced to walk through flooded streets.

Meanwhile, coastal residents and fisherfolk in Dagupan, Pangasinan were also affected by the incoming storm.

“Natatakot kami kasi pag may bagyo, wala silang makuhang isda. Wala kaming mauulam. Sa ganun po kasi kami umaasa,” resident Jesselyn Macalma said.

(We are afraid because when there is a typhoon, they are unable to catch any fish. We have nothing to eat. We only rely on fishing.)
