Global ride-hailing app inDrive said Tuesday it plans to double its partner-divers in Metro Manila by end-2024.
“Our MAUB [monthly active user base] is growing. By the end of the year, we will be adding a few thousands. The most important thing here is the base growth that we have seen. It means that the business model is actually alluring to both passengers and drivers,” said Natalia Makarenko, the company’s marketing director for Asia Pacific.
“The Philippine market is one of the key markets in Asia Pacific. For sure we will prepare for the business expansion,” she said.
Makarenko said InDrive would expand to two or three cities this year.
“We’re working hard together with our partners to enlarge our driver’s base because we understand that it’s not only for business development for us, but also providing opportunities of income for those drivers who want to earn a decent amount of money,” she said.
Mohamed Khalil, inDrive regional driver acquisition and activation team lead, said the company is targeting to on-board 16,000 partner-drivers in Metro Manila by end of the year.
“We are expecting the same growth. Of course we plan to grow rapidly, [16,000 partner-driver] will be nice to have,” he said.
The company, which started operations in June, has 8,000 partner-drivers. It also operates in over 700 cities in more than 46 countries.
Amid this steady expansion in the Philippines, inDrive remains loyal to its pledge to promote the welfare of its partner drivers, passengers, and the broader community through the “Ka-gulong, Kita Tayo!” campaign, a joint effort with transport group Laban TNVS.
“We have always believed in the power of mobility to transform lives. Our strategic goal for 2030 is ambitious but clear: to positively impact the lives of over 1 billion people worldwide,” Makarenko said.
“We aim to achieve this by continuously driving change through innovative mobility solutions and community-driven initiatives that resonate with the needs of the people we serve,” she said.
Laban TNVS president Jun De Leon they are glad to continue working closely with inDrive to create initiatives that reach out to drivers “and this campaign enables us to do just that.”
“Laban TNVS has always been committed to assisting our brothers and sisters in the TNVS community, and we are pleased that inDrive shares the same goal. Rest assured, we will remain vigilant in fighting for justice, fairness, and equality in the industry, while promoting the safety of our roads, drivers, and passengers,” he said.
