President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday warned dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo not to be evasive in congressional hearings and just tell the truth.
In an interview, Marcos said he wants Guo ”to lay out exactly how these POGOs became so large.” He added that Guo should explain why she supposedly did not know the extent of POGO problem in her locality.
”It’s basically a criminal enterprise and as mayor, for her to say she did not know this was going on, it’s very difficult to believe because as a former local government executive, it seems impossible that an operation that is what, a few hundred meters away from my own office, hindi ko alam ‘yung nangyayari doon, iligal na ganitong kalaki na operation?” Marcos said.
Marcos stressed that Guo should answer better than her alleged cohorts, Shiela Guo, the purported sister of the dismissed mayor, and Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
”Sana naman mabuti-buti ang sagot ni Alice Guo as compared doon sa mga kasamahan niya because it will not help her at all to be evasive. Mas bibigat ang magiging problema niya kung hindi siya magsabi nang totoo,” Marcos said.
Guo left the country in July despite her name being on the immigration lookout bulletin. She is facing human trafficking and money laundering complaints in the Philippines.
Guo was nabbed by Indonesian authorities in Tangerang City early Wednesday morning and returned the country past 1 a.m. on Friday aboard a private plane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
