IN his first National Teachers’ Month, Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara has honored teachers across the country for their unwavering dedication to students and the quality of education.
“Our teachers are the foundation of our nation. No progress is possible without them. Thank you for your service and commitment,” Angara said in his recorded video message during the festivities held in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
Angara also noted key benefits and incentives for public school teachers in the event, such as the 2024 Salary differential under Executive Order 64 of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be released this month, which includes salary increases effective from 2024 to 2027.

He also highlighted the increase in medical allowance of up to P7,000 starting fiscal year 2025, as well as the increase in the teaching allowance from P5,000 to P10,000 as mandated by the recently signed Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act.
He added that the performance-based bonus for 2022 and 2023 will be released as the DepEd is now working closely with the Department of Budget and Management.
Angara has also vowed to answer concerns of teachers, including the revision of the guidelines of the Matatag Education Curriculum to reduce teachers’ workload and provide rest time in between classes.
“We hear you, and in the coming days, months, and years, we will address these issues,” Angara said.
