Watsons Philippines, the leading health and beauty retailer, demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and community well-being throughout 2023.
Aligning with its “look good, do good, feel great” philosophy, Watsons embraced renewable energy by installing 30 solar panels across stores nationwide.
“For us, doing good means more than just providing quality products and access to health services. It’s about upholding our commitment to support our community and protect our planet,” said Watsons Philippines’ managing director Danilo Chiong.
They championed sustainable choices with an 11.2 percent increase in eco-friendly products and significantly reduced plastic waste through the transition to paper bags in 81 percent of stores and the use of 100 percent recycled packaging for online deliveries.
Partnerships with Plastic Bank and SM Malls prevented 50,000 kilograms (kg) of plastic from polluting oceans and collected 6,000 kg of waste through recycling initiatives. They also recovered 20 percent of their plastic footprint, in compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility law.
Watsons’ medical missions provide free care to over 4,000 people, and their Operation Smile partnership enabled 127 children to receive free cleft surgeries.
