WASHINGTON, D.C. — With inflation easing and the labor market cooling, it will likely be appropriate for the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to make a series of interest rate cuts in the coming months, a senior official said Friday.
“I believe the time has come to lower the target range for the federal funds rate at our upcoming meeting,” said Fed Governor Christopher Waller, referring to the central bank’s policy meeting from September 17-18.
