After having declared a dengue outbreak because of rising cases, the Bohol Provincial Government has placed the province under a state of calamity.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) recommended to the Bohol Provincial Anti-Dengue Task Force the declaration of a state of calamity because of a dengue outbreak.

In the latest data of the Provincial Health Office, dengue cases already reached 5,839 from January to August 24, 2024 with 14 death cases.

Due to the rising cases of dengue, supplies of intravenous fluids and NS1 kits have been distributed to 10 government-managed hospitals in different locations in the province.

An NS1 kit detects the “non-structural protein 1 or NS1 of dengue virus.”

This protein is said to be secreted into the blood during a dengue infection.

Following the declaration of a state of calamity, residents are urged to conduct regular cleanups and to seek medical consultation should dengue symptoms manifest. —via L. Udtohan, A. Aballe/GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak/GMA Regional TV
