MANILA, Philippines — Ever since his breakout role in “Black Rider,” South Korean actor Kim Ji-soo has been building a career in the Philippines.
He is set to star in the film “Mujigae.” He appeared at the GMA Gala. He just joined the cast of GMA’s long-running “Abot Kamay Na Pangarap.” After signing a contract with Sparkle GMA Artist Center for endorsement deals, Ji-soo launched his YouTube channel “Jisoo Road” and created a TikTok account to engage with his fans.
Despite these exciting developments, some netizens continue to reference past allegations of school violence that had already been addressed. In 2021, he faced accusations regarding incidents from his school years, including claims of bullying.
In an article by South Korean site Sports Chosun, Ji-soo spoke about how these issues were resolved: “I’ve been able to clear up misunderstandings with the friends involved. We talked and reconciled, and I am now focused on moving forward with my life and career.”
Ji-soo also stated, “Many rumors have become public knowledge and established facts because of things I didn’t do. All sexual assault allegations were false, and even an apology was received.”
He is now committed to his career and grateful for his fans, especially in the Philippines. He said, “I am truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here. The support from my Filipino fans has been overwhelming, and there is so much more I want to accomplish.”
He added, “I want to challenge myself with a play or musical. I also want to make a short film and I find filming on YouTube fun. I studied English a lot during my break, so I want to do an English performance. I want to try acting in English in a global production.”
