Megachurch leader Apollo Quiboloy on Friday, September 13, asked the court for a hospital arrest in Davao City, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PNP spokesperson and acting Public Information Office chief Colonel Jean Fajardo said Quiboloy’s camp filed a motion before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159 for the
hospital arrest the religious leader as well as one of his co-accused, Ingrid Canada.

“Quiboloy’s lawyers also made a motion that Quiboloy and Ingrid Canada be transferred to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Davao because, accordingly, they have existing medical conditions and are having difficulty in the custodial facility,” Fajardo said during a press briefing.

Quiboloy and his cohorts are currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center at Camp Rafael Crame, Quezon City.

While the court initially ordered that the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder as well as four of his cohorts be transferred to the Pasig City Jail, it was decided that they must stay at the PNP Custodial Center pending the results of their medical checkup.

“In response to the motion, the judge required the PNP to facilitate Quiboloy and Canada’s medical checkup with government doctors,” Fajardo said.

Quiboloy and four of his co-accused appeared before the Pasig City RTC on Friday morning for their arraignment on the qualified trafficking case filed against them.
