Malacañang on Saturday welcomed the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey which showed that the Marcos administration received a “good” +40 net satisfaction rating in June.

“While we are elated by this validation of our hard work, we view it more as a challenge to do even better,” the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement.

“Indeed, positive ratings always encourage us, but we remain focused on improving the key metrics that fulfill our promises to the people,” the Palace added.

The latest SWS survey rating was an improvement from the “moderate” +29 it got last March, but a downgrade from the “excellent” +52 in December 2023.

The survey, which was conducted from June 23 to July 1, showed that 62% of Filipinos were satisfied, 15% were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and 22% were dissatisfied with the performance of the national government.

“We take the high road in our efforts, not merely to seek popularity, but to render genuine and effective service that improves our people’s lives, strengthens our nation and secures our future,” the PCO said.

“More than the results of any opinion poll, this is the true reward and reaffirmation we seek,” it added.

Based on SWS’ Governance Report Card, which rates the national government on 15 specific performance subjects, the Marcos administration was “very good” on three subjects, “good” on five subjects, “moderate” on three subjects, “neutral” on two subjects, and “poor” on two subjects:

“Very good” – helping victims of disasters (+64), improving the quality of children’s education (+62), and helping the poor (+51)

“Good” –  implementing housing programs for the poor (+47), developing science and technology (+46), creating policies that will generate job opportunities (+45), ensuring an efficient public transportation system (+38), and ensuring food security (+35)

“Moderate” –  preparing for problems being caused by climate change (+29), defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+22), and ensuring that no family will ever be hungry and have nothing to eat (+18)

“Neutral” – fighting crimes that victimize ordinary citizens, like killings, holdups, robberies, physical violence, etc. (-2) and ensuring that oil companies do not take advantage of oil prices (-3)

“Poor” –  eradicating graft and corruption in government (-10) and fighting inflation (-16)

The National Unity Party (NUP) said that the “good” satisfaction rating came despite “unrelenting black propaganda,” adding that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s “hard work and honest governance paid off as his administration’s satisfaction ratings surged by double-digits in the latest SWS poll.”

NUP president and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte said, “It did it not happen overnight, this increase was not a product of a single leap, but of persistence, like a podium built brick by brick, each a government program well received by the people because it helped them tremendously.”

“That this was achieved amidst unrelenting black propaganda and baseless personal attacks against the President only proves that lies are ineffective against the people’s real feelings that their lives have been made better by a government that truly cares for them,” Villafuerte said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
