Globe Telecom Inc. said it activated new towers in Cebu province, bolstering internet connectivity and supporting local economic development.
The additional infrastructure is strategically located in Danao City, Cordova municipality, Naga City, Toledo City and Cebu City.
“The new towers in Cebu province are a testament to our dedication to empowering communities, driving economic growth, and supporting local businesses,” said Globe senior vice president and head of network planning and engineering Joel Agustin.
“We believe that strong connectivity is the backbone of progress, and we are proud to play a role in the development of these vibrant communities,” he said.
Globe said it continues to strengthen its presence in the province and the rest of the country to ensure that every business and citizen stays connected in today’s digital world.
Globe built 352 new cell towers and upgraded 1,942 existing mobile sites to LTE technology in the first half of 2024.
It also deployed 39,880 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines from January to June this year, further expanding its high-speed fiber internet coverage.
Globe’s network expansion efforts extend beyond urban centers, having brought connectivity to over 500 geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) as part of its commitment to bridging the digital divide.
By connecting remote communities, Globe said it enables residents to access vital online services, educational resources and economic opportunities that were once limited by geographical barriers.
