The Philippine National Police (PNP) activated special tracker teams tasked to locate the whereabouts of lawyer Harry Roque, who was cited in contempt by the House of Representatives over his refusal to cooperate with their ongoing investigation into illegal online gambling operations.

PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil said in a statement that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is leading the search for the former spokesperson of then President Rodrigo Duterte.

Marbil assured that these operations would be carried out with the highest level of professionalism and respect for due process.

“We have officially received the request from the House of Representatives, and the PNP is fully committed to executing this order while adhering to our core mandate. Our fundamental duty is to
respect the decisions of our democratic institutions and ensure human rights are protected throughout this process,” the PNP chief said.

Roque was not found in his two known addresses in Metro Manila. The lawyer was cited in contempt and was issued a warrant of arrest for his failure to submit documents requested by the House Quad Committee in relation to his ties with the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

The House lawmakers asked for the Statement, Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) of the former Duterte cabinet member as well as documentary requirements connected to his family’s firm—Biancham Holdings—and a land transaction in Parañaque City.
