Tropical storm “Helen” is about to exit the Philippine area of responsibility, according to the latest forecast of the state weather bureau.

In its final weather bulletin issued at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the center of the eye of “Helen” was estimated at 930 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

The storm was moving northwestward at 40 km per hour with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h.

Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that tropical depression “Gener” already left the country as of early morning Wednesday.

Both ‘Gener’ and ‘Helen,’ however, will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat,’ which will bring strong to gale-force gusts by Thursday over the following areas: Ilocos region, Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Negros Island region and Zamboanga Peninsula.

‘Habagat’ is forecast to trigger heavy to intense rainfall today over Zambales and Bataan, while moderate to heavy rainfall will prevail in the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Pampanga, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.

From Thursday until Friday, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan, La Union, Benguet and Pangasinan will experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
