MANILA, Philippines — Former president and now Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will run for reelection in 2025 as the congressional representative of Pampanga’s second district, her office announced on Thursday.
Macapagal-Arroyo, an economist, is the daughter of the late president Diosdado Macapagal.
She had served in various government offices before becoming the country’s second female president.

In 2018, during her third term at the House of Representatives, Arroyo was elected speaker but only stayed for a year as elections were held in 2019.
It was in 2022 that she ran again for the post of Pampanga second district representative.
Under the 1987 Constitution, members of the House are granted a term of three years and are allowed up to three consecutive terms.
