GLOBE Telecom Inc. (Globe) has switched on two new cell sites in Bogo City, Cebu.

The telco said on Sunday the enhanced connectivity brought by the new installations, located in Barangays Binabag and Marangog, would greatly benefit residents, businesses, and tourists.

Globe said the Binabag cell site along the Cebu North Road would improve access for 2,500 residents, many of whom are engaged in agriculture.

The other site will also address the need for improved data services for Barangay Marangog’s 2,500 residents.

“[W]e are empowering communities, boosting local economies, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents,” Globe Senior Vice President Joel Agustin said.

Bogo, known for its sugarcane production and fishery, is vulnerable to climate change-induced hazards such as typhoons, floods, landslides, and similar disasters.

Globe said the new cell sites would help strengthen the city’s resilience during emergencies.

The telco’s shares closed at P2,290 apiece on Friday, marginally down by 0.09 percent.
