MANILA, Philippines— Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo will be tested for tuberculosis following the detection of an infection in her left lung, the police said.
Philippine National Police spokesman Col. Jean Fajardo said that based on the medical examination conducted before Guo was transferred to the Pasig City jail, government doctors found a probable infection in her left lung.
“As a matter of procedure she underwent the required medical and physical examination conducted by the PNP General Hospital and the Forensic Group. During the medical examination the doctor found a probable infection in left lung. So the BJMP upon receiving Alice Guo will now have the disposition on how to treat this possible infection,” Fajardo said, referring to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
Fajardo said Guo had cough and colds prior to her transfer to the Pasig City Jail.
She said the infection, which was detected through an X-ray, may have developed over the weekend.
Guo stayed at the PNP Custodial Center since her arrival from Indonesia where she was caught.
BJMP spokesman Supt. Jayrex Joseph Bustinera said since Guo was found to be suffering from possible lung infection, she will be in isolation for a few days.
Guo will join three other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) suffering from tuberculosis in the isolation area.
“The medical result was confirmed and we recommended to our Health Service to isolate her,” said Bustinera.
Once Guo is cleared of the lung infection, Bustinera said she will be immediately transferred to the common jail facilities.
