Shiela Guo, the purported sister of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, will be transferred to the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) due to security concerns, the Bureau of Immigrations (BI) said on Wednesday.
“Ngayon, sa NBI natin siya kasalukuyang ilalagak muna becuase nakikita natin na merong mga security concerns. And since ang operations natin is joint with NBI and BI, nakita natin na mas magiging mabuti kung nandoon po siya sa kustodiya ng NBI,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval told Unang Balita in an interview.
(Now, we are currently going to place her in NBI custody because of security concerns. And since we are conducting joint operations with the NBI we saw that it would be better if she will be in NBI custody.)
Sandoval clarified that Shiela Guo’s legal custody remains under BI as she is facing a deportation case for misrepresentation and undesirability.
While in NBI custody, there will be no special treatment given to Shiela Guo, according to Sandoval.
“Parang regular na nakapiit po siya doon po sa NBI. Wala pong special treatment sa kanila kapag sila po ay napiit doon sa mga regular na kulungan,” she said.
(She will be in a regular cell. There is no special treatment for them when they are detained in regular cells.)
On Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality lifted the contempt order against Shiela Guo and ordered her transfer to the BI.
Shiela Guo, whose real name is Zhang Mier, is facing charges for Disobedience to Summons by the Senate and for allegedly using a fake Philippine passport. She is also a respondent in the money laundering complaint filed against Alice Guo before the Department of Justice.
The Senate cited Shiela Guo in contempt and ordered her arrest in July. She was arrested with Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Pampanga, in Indonesia on August 22. They were brought back to the Philippines on the same day. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
