METRO Pacific Hospital Holdings Inc. (MPH) and subsidiary Santos Clinic Inc. (SCI) have completed the purchase of a majority stake in San Francisco Doctors Hospital (SFDH), Agusan del Sur.

The 100-bed hospital is the 25th facility of MPH in the Philippines.

The investment agreement was for a 72-percent stake in the hospital.

“Expanding our network through strategic investments like the one in San Francisco Doctors Hospital allows us to bring accessible and dependable health care to more communities,” MPH president Augie Palisoc Jr. said.

“We remain committed to delivering top-quality health care services and improving the overall health infrastructure across our archipelago,” he added.

MPH said that it would enhance the hospital’s capacity to meet the growing health care needs of Agusan del Sur and surrounding communities.

The joint investment of MPH and SCI was said to follow a strategy of enhancing health care delivery in the provinces by linking smaller hospitals to larger, urban hospitals.

For his part, SCI president Oslec Lopez said, “Our focus has always been on creating a robust health care network that can deliver superior patient care across the country and in the localities that we serve.”

“By integrating SFDH into our network, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that the people of Agusan del Sur and nearby areas have access to the best health care services,” he added.

Incoming SFDH president and chief executive officer Terrence Vesagas welcomed the acquisition.

“With the support of MPH and SCI, we are poised to enhance our services and bring better health care outcomes to our patients,” he said.

SFDH is the second hospital acquisition of MPH this year after UHBI-Parañaque Doctors Hospital last May.
