Sen. Imee Marcos announced on Saturday that she is withdrawing from the senatorial lineup of the administration of her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

“My sincere thanks to President Bongbong who, despite the anger and extreme cruelty of some, defended me and even included me in the alliance,” Imee said in Filipino in a video statement.

“I decided to stand up alone so that my brother would not be put at risk, so that my true friends don’t cast doubt,” she added.

She then appealed to her followers for their continued support and understanding.

The Marcos administration coalition Senate slate for 2025 includes Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Sen. Pia Cayetano, Sen. Lito Lapid, Sen. Francis Tolentino, Sen. Bong Revilla Jr., former Sen. Manny Pacquiao, former Sen. Panfilo Lacson, former Sen. Vicente Sotto III, Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, and former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo.

Notably, Imee was absent at the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas convention, where the President endorsed her and the aforementioned 11 politicians.
