Agri party-list Representative Wilbert Lee is the first senatorial aspirant to file his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 national and local elections (NLE) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Lee arrived at the Manila Hotel Tent City at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday to formalize his bid in the next year’s elections. He will be running under Aksyon Demokratiko.
“Gusto natin maipakita sa ating mga kababayan na seryoso tayo sa ating ginagawa. Ipaglalaban natin, ipagpapatuloy natin sa Senado,” Lee told reporters.
(We want to show the public that we’re serious in what we’re doing and we will continue our advocacy in Congress to the Senate.)
Lee said he would be pushing for more accessible healthcare during his campaign.
Carrying banners, some of Lee’s supporters trooped early outside the venue for the COC filing to express support to his candidacy.
Meanwhile, also among the early birds in the filing of COC for senator on Tuesday were sustainability advocate David Chan and electrician-carpenter Alexander Encarnacion, who will be running for the Senate for the third time. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
