A court has allowed dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo to get a medical checkup at a hospital, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) announced Wednesday.
“Naka-receive po kami ng court order para makapag pa-checkup siya (we received a court order for her to get a checkup),” BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said at a press briefing.
Bustinera said that the BJMP took the initiative to make the request as there were concerns regarding a possible lung infection.
“Just to make sure kasi ito po ‘yung concern during the last Senate hearing na pinarating din ng mga senators natin na baka much better daw po kung pwedeng ipa-checkup siya,” he said.
(Just to make sure because this was the concern during the Last Senate hearing and our senators also told us that it may be much better if she can be checked.)
He said they are still coordinating with the hospital for the schedule.
According to Bustinera, they will also check with Guo if she still wants a checkup.
“Kasi, so far, healthy naman siya. Wala namang other health concerns na noted ang BJMP doctor natin,” he said.
(Because, so far, she is healthy. Our BJMP doctor did not note any other health concerns.)
Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory
Guo, also identified as Guo Hua Ping, was transferred to the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame in September.
She is facing a qualified human trafficking case before a Pasig court as well as a graft case before a Valenzuela court.
A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.
She is also facing a tax evasion complaint as well as 87 counts for money laundering before the Justice Department.
According to Bustinera, five of Guo’s co-accused in one of her qualified trafficking were also transferred to the Pasig Female Dormitory last week.
They were part of the seven alleged cohorts who surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in September.
“Limang babae na ito ay matatandaang nag surrender sa NBI at ito ay nasa custody na ng BJMP,” Bustinera said.
(Five women who surrendered to the NBI are now under the custody of the BJMP.)
He added that the two other supposed cohorts were most likely still at the NBI.
Quiboloy
Meanwhile, Bustinera said that the four co-accused of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy in his qualified trafficking case were also transferred to the Pasig City Jail Male and Female Dormitory.
“Isang lalaki at tatlong babae ay naidala na doon (three males and one female were already brought there),” Bustinera said.
A court previously ordered the transfer of Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemane while Quiboloy was ordered to remain at Camp Crame.
