Sta Cruz, Laguna—Ann Matibag, the incumbent representative of the first district of Laguna, officially filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) on Wednesday for the upcoming 2025 elections. This marks her intention to run for a second term in office, after serving her constituents for the past three years.

In a press statement released after filing her COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office here, Matibag shared her platform of government, highlighting her plans to continue pushing for more infrastructure programs in their district.

“Infrastructure development is crucial in creating economic growth and attracting more investments in our district. This is why I am determined to work closely with both the San Miguel Corporation and the Department of Public Works and Highways to bring in more projects that will benefit our community,” she said.

Among the projects that Matibag mentioned is the construction of the San Pedro Exit Northbound, which has been long awaited by the commuters in their district. She also plans to inaugurate more school buildings, with a focus on providing well-equipped and ready-to-use facilities for their students.

“Education is one of my advocacies, and I believe that investing in our children’s education is investing in the future of our district. As such, we will continue to prioritize the construction of school buildings and provide quality education for our youth,” the lawmaker added.

Matibag also revealed that they will soon be launching four solar water power systems in San Pedro City, in partnership with the Department of Energy. These systems will provide sustainable and affordable sources of clean water for their constituents, particularly those in remote barangays.

Aside from infrastructure and education, Matibag also emphasized her commitment to providing impactful social welfare services to the people of San Pedro. She said they have a substantial budget for social welfare programs, thanks to the support of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“The welfare of our people, especially the less fortunate, remains close to my heart. That is why we will continue to implement programs and services that will uplift their lives and provide them with better opportunities,” Matibag stated.

Matibag is confident that she will be re-elected as the representative of the first district of Laguna. Her commitment to serving her constituents and improving their way of life has been recognized and appreciated by the people she serves.

As the campaign period draws near, Matibag vows to continue working hard and engaging with her constituents to better understand their needs and concerns. She also calls on the people of San Pedro to join her in her vision of building a better and more prosperous district for all.
