MANILA, Philippines — Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. has ordered the strict monitoring of the retail prices of agricultural commodities as he implemented a revamp of DA personnel assigned to conduct daily price watch in over 40 Metro Manila markets.
Tiu Laurel issued Special Order No. 1480 reorganizing the price monitoring team of the DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service.
He ordered AMAS personnel to conduct daily price monitoring, including holidays and weekends, as necessary.
“They are required to be at their respective market assignments by 5 a.m.,” Tiu Laurel said.
Among the establishments covered by the price monitoring are Muñoz Market, Cloverleaf Balintawak, Mega Q-Mart, Kamuning Market, Shopwise Cubao, Hi-Top Supermarket, Landmark-Trinoma and Murphy Public Market, Puregold and Waltermart in Roosevelt, Commonwealth Market, Robinsons-Fairview, Juliana Balintawak Market, Farmer’s Market and Fisher Supermarket, all in Quezon City.
