The Quezon City government on Friday assured that the school principal who allegedly sexually abused students will face justice.
“Hindi namin kailanman kukunsintihin ang ganitong gawi. Titiyakin natin na magkakaroon ng masusing imbestigasyon sa kaso, at handa tayong magpaabot ng tulong legal sa mga biktima upang lalong mapatibay ang kaso laban sa akusado,” said Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
(We will never tolerate this kind of action. We will ensure that there will be a thorough investigation in the case and we are ready to extend legal assistance to the victims to strengthen the case against the accused.)
“Nananawagan din tayo sa iba pang posibleng mga biktima na magsalita, upang matiyak na maparurusahan ang may sala at makamit ang hustisya,” she added.
(We also call on other possible victims to speak up so we can ensure that the principal will be punished and justice is served.)
Belmonte reminded teachers and school officials that it is their duty to guard, take care, and prioritize the welfare and safety of their students inside the campus.
Schools Division Superintendent Carleen Sedilla in a separate statement said THAT they received the report about the alleged sexual abuse by the principal on September 29.
Four Grade 10 students filed a complaint against the principal for acts of lasciviousness.
With the arrest of the principal, Sedilla said an officer-in-charge was assigned in the concerned school on September 30.
“The School, Child Protection Committee was convened and met with the parents and students for intervention and psychological first aid,” Sedilla said.
“The case was also reported to the City Social Welfare Office and social workers were immediately sent to offer psychological help to the students. Series of counseling sessions were scheduled to assist the parents and the learners,” Sedilla added.
Meanwhile, the Schools Division Office also requested an investigation into the incident for the administrative aspect of the case.
