Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla will take his oath as secretary of the interior and local government on Tuesday, his brother Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla has told reporters.
Asked if his brother was poised to be the next interior secretary, the justice secretary said, “I think so.”
“[He’s] scheduled to have an oath taking tomorrow. Tomorrow morning. In fact, I think he’s withdrawing from candidacy as we speak,” Remulla said in a chance interview.
Sought for comment, the governor said it was better for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to make the announcement.
GMA News Online is still getting confirmation from Malacañang as regards the next head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Erstwhile Interior Secretary Benhhur Abalos left the post after he filed his certificate of candidacy for senator.
Remulla said his brother’s appointment will improve the justice system.
He said this was because of the Justice Sector Coordinating Council (JSCC), which is composed of the DILG, the Department of Justice, and the Supreme Court.
“The commitments can be made instantly because the two of us can always talk about what has to be done. Mas maganda ang coordination niyan,” Remulla said.
“Like minds, tsaka I think that we only want the best for the country. Wala tayong ibang motive dito,” he added.

According to Remulla, they may be able to accelerate the training of prosecutors.
“Siguro yung training nung police with the prosecutors, siguro ma accelerate pa namin. We would be able to accelerate the training of police and prosecutors so the regime of justice will reign supreme,” he said.
