The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) eliminated a total of 844 permanent positions as part of the ongoing reorganization at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

This move came after the authority transferred the airport’s management to its new private operator, New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), to rehabilitate the country’s premier gateway.

“As part of the transition to the new structure, a total of 844 plantilla positions were abolished, with a particular emphasis on those positions held by employees who transferred to the NNIC,” the MIAA said in a statement.

“Those employees will be given their Separation Incentive Pay (SIP), ensuring that they are fairly compensated for their departure from MIAA,” it added.

Plantilla positions are permanent government positions with a corresponding authorized budget allotment in the annual General Appropriations.
