FORMER Manila mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday filed his certificate of candidacy for his old post.
For this campaign, Moreno will run with Angela Atienza-Valdepeñas.
He will be facing off against his former running mate and current mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Tutok to Win Party-list Rep. Sam Verzosa.
“We will let the people decide in 2025; we will leave it to the Batang Maynila, even the senior citizens, to freely choose this upcoming election,” he said.
He also admitted that he was shocked that the current mayor felt “betrayed” by his decision to run against her in 2025.
“I was shocked… I didn’t expect that was going to be her reaction,” Moreno said.
Speaking to reporters, Lacuna-Pangan, who calls Moreno her “little brother,” wished him well in the upcoming polls.
“We all felt that way, as if he turned away from us. He’s still my little brother, and I wish him well,” she said.
Moreno served as Manila mayor from 2019 to 2022 before he ran for president and handed over the reins to Lacuna.
