THE Caloocan City government launched its vaccination campaign for elementary school students against measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria and human papillomavirus at Caloocan High School on Tuesday.
“I am encouraging our parents to have their kids immunized against various diseases that are common to children; we must protect them,” Mayor Dave Gonzalo Malapitan said.
“With assurance from our medical experts, I could now guarantee to the parents that the vaccines are safe and effective against diseases,” he added.
The jab campaign, covering students in Grades 1, 4 and 7, was implemented through a partnership between the City Health Department and Schools Division Office.
At the same time, Malapitan said the Caloocan City Medical Center and the Caloocan City North Medical Center were conducting free cancer screening, breast and pregnancy ultrasound, as well as surgical removal of lumps and cysts for the whole month.
“I am encouraging all women in the city to avail of the free services offered by the city hospitals,” he added.
