THE Quezon City government has launched Helpline#122, a psychosocial support initiative.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said residents with mental health concerns who wish to seek help could dial 122 on their phones.
“They will immediately be referred to a crisis responder who will answer and assist them. The Mental Health Hotline is available 24/7,” she added.
The mayor said the city’s crisis responders were trained in suicide and crisis management by the National Center for Mental Health.
They were supported by health workers trained in psychosocial support and psychological first aid.
In support of the initiative, the City Health Department trained over 370 barangay (village) officials and staff in psychological first aid and conducted lectures on mental health awareness among residents.
Mental wellness hubs were also established in communities.
Quezon City was the first local government unit to establish its own mental health code through Ordinance 3158-2022.
