Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH), the largest private hospital group in the Philippines, is acquiring a controlling stake in Quezon City-based Diliman Doctors Hospital Inc. (DDHI).

Established in 2018, DDHI has a capacity of 165 beds and is located on nearly 5,000 square meters of land, with additional space for parking and future expansion. Its growth is driven by over 500 medical practitioners serving nearby residential areas.

This marks MPH’s third investment this year and its 26th hospital in the country, increasing its total inpatient capacity to over 4,300 beds.

Dr. Lani Ancheta, president and lead founder of DDHI, said the partnership with MPH would enable the group to achieve its vision to build a premier healthcare facility.

“We recognized the need for a strong institutional partner, and there was no better choice for that than the clear industry leader that is Metro Pacific Health,” Dr. Ancheta said.

“We are deeply honored and grateful that Dr. Lani along with her co-founders entrusted the care and development of her brainchild to us at MPH. It is a heavy responsibility, but we nevertheless draw confidence from the breadth and depth of the professional management team we have developed over the years, the wealth of best practices learned from our nationwide network of hospitals, plus the guidance of our chairman Manuel Pangilinan, whose vision to deliver quality and affordable healthcare to all Filipinos started this all,” MPH director for corporate development Jose Noel C. de la Paz said.

MPH’s notable hospitals include Makati Medical Center, Asian Hospital and Medical Center and Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

MPH in September completed the acquisition of San Francisco Doctors Hospital in Agusan del Sur. It also acquired a majority stake in UHBI-Parañaque Doctors Hospital Inc. in May.

MPH said DDHI is rapidly growing and has become the preferred hospital in northern part of Quezon City. Its growth is driven by over 500 medical practitioners serving nearby residential areas.

MPH earlier said it planned to add four new hospitals in its network this year.
