MANILA, Philippines — More than six kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride were seized from a South African passenger who arrived in Manila on October 12, the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group said on Monday.

The 31-year-old foreigner was arrested by members of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group upon his arrival at NAIA on Saturday night.

The passenger had a connecting flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Hong Kong then Manila.

The 6.2 kilograms of shabu, with a street value of P42 million, was wrapped in black duct tape and hidden in the foreigner’s luggage.
