THE recently issued Asean-China Joint Statements exemplify a clear trajectory toward collaboration rather than conflict, according to a Philippine-based independent think tank and research organization.
In an interview with The Manila Times on Wednesday, Asian Century Philippines Strategic Studies Institute (ACPSSI) President Herman Tiu Laurel said the joint statements serve as proof that Asean member states are “actively pursuing a vision of harmony and cooperation” to effectively address both current and emerging challenges, particularly the South China Sea territorial disputes.
